HomeMatch watches New York City rental and roommate groups on Facebook and texts you the rooms and apartments that fit what you are looking for, within 30 minutes of the post going up. Texts are optional — the dashboard works whether or not you turn them on.
Message frequency varies by matching activity, bounded by the tenant's daily cap — 20 messages per day by default, adjustable in tenant settings. Phase 1 sends one SMS per rental Match while SMS consent is active and the daily cap has not been reached. Message and data rates may apply.

Frequently asked questions
- What do the text alerts cost?
- Your first 10 matches are free. After that each match delivered costs 2¢, paid from prepaid credits. There is no subscription and no monthly fee, and credits do not expire.
- How fast does a text arrive after someone posts?
- We read the groups every 30 minutes, so a text reaches you within 30 minutes of the post going up. We pull the rent, layout and move-in date out of the post and text you if it fits what you are looking for.
- Which listings do you watch?
- New York City rental and roommate groups on Facebook. That is the whole source: this is where tenants and small landlords post directly, and most of it never reaches a listing site. We do not watch StreetEasy, Zillow or Craigslist.
- How many texts will I get?
- As many as there are matches, up to the daily cap on your account — 20 a day by default, which you can raise or lower in your settings at any time. Nothing is sent between midnight and 6am.
- Do I have to turn the texts on?
- No. Consent is not a condition of using HomeMatch, and the consent box is unticked until you tick it. Decline it and every match still appears on your dashboard.
- How do I stop the texts?
- Reply STOP to any message and they stop at your carrier. Reply HELP for help. To turn them back on, text START to the same number — your carrier holds that block, so we cannot lift it from inside the app.
- Does this work outside New York City?
- Not yet. HomeMatch watches New York City only. A second city means a different set of groups, so it is real work rather than a setting.

How the Program Works
When a Listing matches a tenant's Expectation, HomeMatch may send an SMS Notification with a short snippet, available price information, and a link to the Match detail page in the dashboard. The dashboard remains available even when SMS consent is declined.
